Conditions are looking tough. Is the river portion fish able? It’s looking like a beer fest otherwise.

Which site are you using to gauge the conditions?

I was using Windy and should take it with a grain of salt since it's pretty far out. Already their forecast seems to be improving to pretty fishable for the tournament.

Anyone else going up early and available to fish 4-6th let me know  :smt003
Al could do the bass tournament technique. Catch the big fish during easy conditions, hide them in crab traps in calm shallow water areas, and then "catch" them the day of the tournament when conditions are tough for the win.
my first two entry's aren't impressive,  bit they are tasty

I'll play it safe, plenty of bait and plenty of beer

Friday morning looking really nice, Saturday morning keeps improving.

so I've never fished Albion before, is it RF and Ling only? or other fish to target?

looks like Salmon are off limits until July 22

Thanks,
Brian.

That was a really fun event and the weather turned out so much better than expected. It really calmed down like a lake after about 9am or so. I was able to get a trifecta (ling, cab, Verm and several other RF) but I knew I wasn't a contender with a 27" ling. I went in around noon anyway. I was happy with 6th place. Who needs prizes with such a cool T-shirt. Mabel had a hell of a time too.

After going for RF early with a shrimp fly, I had 2 canaries in a row getting hitchhiked and released by what felt like large lings. I switched to a Branson slug after that and got all the better fish on that. 2mph current meant that every time you landed a decent fish you were way south of where you started.

Not much to report day of the tournament from myself.  Having over done it the days leading up to the tourney my back was complaining pretty badly even though I took a couple days off to recover.  Got up at 7, had breakfast, took a shower, launched into the lake with current and gave it a whirl.  Only caught some lesser grade rockfish, noting even brag worthy except that I had a lot of fun.  The Camper was great to cook out of and sleep (and nap) in.  Was so glad to see everyone that showed up for the event.  It was just like old times  :smt003

My brother and I each caught a lot of fish.  I ended up with ten different species (greenling, vermillion, black, blue, China, gopher, ling, smelt, octopus, and sea star).  It was lake conditions and a sunny afternoon where we got to see a bald eagle fly over us.
