Yeah,,, one of those Lehr  propane motors   would be my preference.
                 http://golehr.com/#   I'd need a seat belt.
My biggest concern would be with the motor weight and and torque causing stress at points on the hull.   It would be possible to fabricate something  bombproof I suppose.    Maybe someday when I'm rich and famous... LOL

My sailboat had a separate float switch ( very small and light ) to control the bilge pump.  Dual acton switch combined with a LED indicator light to warn when the pump comes on..   Sure would be cheap insurance in the event of a problem  4 miles offshore... You're all weighted down with Salmon,, notice that you're a little lower in the water than before,  the fan turns on,,,  Landlord decides to visit,,,    :shark

I didn't know about the Lehr propane motors till now.  Very nice.  Jim, thanks for the link.  Makes good economical and ecological sense!

I chose the suzuki 2.5 hp because it is lighter, quieter, more reliable and less expensive than the Lehr. I have a bad back so weight is a big deal  for me. I think in a few years propane motors will be a good option, but right now the web reviews are mixed as they have only been around for a couple of years and have some bugs.

Just as an FYI...I was tinkering with the new AI, and my old mount doesn't fit.  Mod's aren't hard, but my little turnbuckles aren't in the right place anymore...

Pics eventually

I had a hobie outback that I used a suzuki 2.5 on.  The suzuki is a great option because it's water cooled and way quieter than the honda.  My setup was no where near as fancy as yours, I just bracket together a 2x4 and ratchet strapped it to the kayak.  It was easy, cheap and removable.  Looked pretty "ghetto" but it worked  :smt044

Had to wait for my tax return but finally got my Suzuki 2.5 HP outboard. I built the engine mount based on measurements of other gas engines at West Marine. Was happy to find out the Suzuki actually fit the mount pretty well  :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 I did on the water measurements to get the top of the transom level but with the weight of the engine and a retriever on the tramp, the boat listed to port about 3 degrees. I added a HDPE 1/2" block between the engine thumb screws to keep the motor from walking off the edge of the transom. First test run at Del Valle today and it went great. No more than 3 pulls to start the engine. I have never owned a boat or outboard before but it seems relatively quiet. However, the noise and gas fumes going downwind were enough for me  to use it only for saltwater long range salmon missions or albacore. Molly gave me the stink eye whenever the motor was running so jury has spoken.   :smt044 :smt044 The AI is truly the battleship of the plastic navy. I love the versatility and rigging options.

Congratulations Scott. With the gas engine your AI is certified fro international travel.  :smt007 Adding 1/2  inch HDPE block took care my initial concern that the engine may "walk off" your HDPE engine mount. Great experiment. Looking forward to see you fly on top of the water surface.

Nice long range Salmon attack vessel !
Guess you could add  " low  exhaust emissions " as one of the pro's to the Lehr  propane motor.

Sweet looking setup, Scott. My brother has the same exact motor used with his inflatable and he loves it.

I'm thinking about mounting this motor to my 13 revo in the near future. My body can only handle so much trolling! 20 mile day trolls it now can be turned into 30-40 mile day trolls! Thanks for the inspiration.

Threw a motor mount on my AI today and thought I'd share some pictures.  I can not see where GB2 mounted his cable brace to.  I'm thinking of just putting in another eye.

Geeze Scott!!! I'm thinking more like an aircraft carrier  :smt044 You got enough sh*t on that thing? Wonder what the hull weight is?  :smt002 If you want to reduce the chance of an outboard "walking" try counter sinking a couple drill holes a little larger than the clamp feet. Or as I did on my aluminum boat transom. Screw a piece of aluminum angle iron onto the front side of the transom. Creates a lip it has to get over before coming off. I cut one side of the angle down to a 1/4" to create the lip. I have to open the clamps completely to clear the lip, but it almost assures me it won't come off. After a friend of my brothers had his walk off in the middle of San Pablo bay duck hunting in the winter once. I figured this was cheap easy insurance. They spent most of the day casting with the anchor line tied to a pair of open vice grips from the boat blind and finally near the end of the day hooked it and got it back!!  :smt005 My brother said every now and then a bubble of gas would come up, giving away the location of the motor...
