Let's schedule the first Hobie AI regatta for Saturday 9/8/2012. The plan is to launch from Horse Shoe Cove in Sausalito at 7:30 AM and sail west under the gate and meet up at Kirby Cove on the west side of the cove at 1-1:30 PM for a beach party/shore lunch on the bluff. Then head back to Horse Shoe cove around 3-4PM. As far as fishing, I think heading up to Muir and troll or mooch for salmon makes sense. If the bite is slow we can fish rockfish. We don't have to all do the same thing so if some folks want to fish the north tower and others want to head up to Muir, that's OK but will need to buddy up. Non-AI paddle or peddle kayaks can also participate but will have to buddy up and file a flight plan. Horse Shoe to Kirby Cove is a short easy paddle if the tide is outgoing which it will be in the morning. There is decent fishing close to shore for rockfish and perch around Kirby Cove. Family and friends willing to hike down to Kirby Cove can join the beach party. It is a steep 1 mile hike from the road but quite scenic. There are some picnic tables on the bluff on the west side of the cove where we will have our lunch. Nice view of the bridge and we keep an eye on our boats.

Sounds fun  Fyi there are new regulations for racing out of the gate ( due to the negligent and complete disregard for human life from the last racers). No one in ncka would act that way. Have fun. Maybe ill come to the party cause idontsaillikethat

Thanks for a great plan.
Going Fishing?
Winds from the south, hook in
    the mouth.
Wind from the east, bite the least.
Wind from the north, further off.
Wind from the west, bite the
    best.

Hell yea! Do you think Vwool will fit in the tank well?

That's the problem of a partnership. You'll end up with another one I'm sure.

I love going out under the South Tower.  I always stop at Bonita Point however.   Never
made it around the point.

The tides look favorable that day for AI.  However, I would not recommend this
trip for a beginner.

I was looking for an excuse to get an AI.   Thanks Scott.

Ben let me take his AI for a ride at Lodi.  It was love at first ride.

I'll be out of town, but I would like to see more AI sailing hook-ups like this.  I've been talking to Hobie about cranking up some local Hobie Island Owners Clubs.  Clubs are popping up all over the globe, and I'm working on getting a list of local Island owners from a Hobie Dealer.  We already have 20+ Hobie AI's and Tandem Islands within NCKA alone.

Scott, thanks for arranging this hook-up.  I'm bummed I'll miss it.

I bought one today from CCK in Oakland.

I am really looking forward to taking it for a ride.

Also, they have a new one with trailer.  A guy bought it a couple of months ago, and now
he is being transferred to Dubai.  It won't last

I'll be out of town too so take lots of pictures and hopefully video.  I'm sure you guys going to have a lot of fun and adventure fishing and sailing with your AI's with the Golden Gate in the background.
