CRAB!
Hadn’t had crab since the opener, and was feeling the need to so we took as 45 min ride out to Bodega Bay  and went to Paisano Bros.
and picked up 3 nice live crab. 2-7’s and and a 7 1/2”er. $10 llb,
So these 3 ran me $72… It makes me thankful that I can go fish for these crab and not spend the $$$ but these are nice crabs!
Ya know these commercial guys  have had some time since they got a paycheck,  so if ya can ,go get some  off the dock, theirs several places that sell live crab.
He said they got them up by the Russian River.
Next weekend  will be hoppin in Bodega!
We Plan on cleaning most of this and making some different dishes  starting with a  Coconut milk  curry vegetable salmon crab noodle bowl thing.

Nice!

Corn crab chowder???

I've got a great recipe for this from Bon Appetit circa 1999 or so. Original recipe calls for lobster, but crab is better, I think.  We make it at least once a year, usually around the holidays. Happy to share if you are interested.

Hey Scotty,
I looked in my recipe box, and panicked a little when I couldn't find it!
But alas, I found a link! Thankfully Bon Appetit archives some of their classics!

https://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/corn-and-lobster-chowder

It is delicious with either crab or lobster, and would probably be good with other seafood too.  Don't be stingy with the butter for you crab - it adds a nice sheen on top. You can also add a little fresh garlic with the crab. You can float other stuff on top too, no wrong answers here.

This recipe makes a pretty significant quantity, but leftovers are good and reheat well.

I've been making this usually once or twice a year for like 20 years - it's always a favorite!

How late do you think they are selling crab until?  I work in Redwood City twice a week and wouldn't mind a run over to HMB for a crab for dinner  :smt003

There used to be a boat that would sell off the dock in RWC, maybe worth checking if they still do that.
