I've had some productive lunch meetings this month (meaning i got some assist hooks tied  :smt002)

Got some thinner wire SS siwash hooks from a buddy, using 100lb kevlar cord, and some crystal flash to make these.

Experimenting with some shrimp flys too for fun, now I find myself collecting odd fly tying materials and thinking about making a larger blue rockfish imitation to troll this season using these techniques lol. There is also an interesting "schooly fly" that you can make look like 2 sand lance swimming with eachother on a single offshank hook that I am planning on creating for hali trolling.

Fun new pastime waiting for the opener.

Very cool. Do you fish them on a downrigger?
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...

The assist hooks are tied to the top of a jig like a flat fall. The shrimp flies I'll tie a couple feet above the jigs.

It's for the spj technique, the assist hooks you can buy at the store are like 5 bucks a pop, doesn't make sense to lose those ones to rocks all the time so I started making them.

Look forward to the pics of fish i am sure you will catch on your ties.  :smt001 Especially looking forward to a pic of the "schooly fly" for halibut. I think i will try one on a troll this year.

Thanks for the post.

Nice looking flies.  Remind me of trout fly fishing.  I am sure you will catch some big rockfish with these flies.
