here's the only rainbow I kept for the day......(caught trolling SR)

It was defintely a slow day. The good news is that the water is up and in a few weeks, the water will clear up and the fishing will go wild  :smt002
Always a good time fishing with Edsel. I'm also hoping James will visit our site and keep us posted with Lake Del Valle reports.

Wow - more nice winter FW fishing. WTG, fellas.

Maybe I should give Spring Lake a shot...

I feel like one of those first-time callers on a radio talk show.

Hi, I'm Edsel, I'm a first-time poster.  :smt001

First, Joel kept bugging me to join NCKA, then after I did that, he kept bullying me to post.  I don't
know if you keep stats of how many new members are recruited by whom, but I can honestly say
that Joel handed out those NCKA stickers to at least two parties yesterday and is constantly pitching
the site whenever we go out.

On to the fishing report...

The previous time I was at Del Valle was in December when the water was at its lowest.  For those that want to see the lake
structure of your favorite fishing holes, I recommend going there in the winter months when the water is
down.  It's a good way to map out fishing structures and hot spots for the rest of the year.  As Joel mentioned,
there is one go-to spot for sure at Del Valle that consistently produces fish for Joel every time we go there,
and you can see why it does so when the water is down after you see that perfect underwater point extending
out from the shore.

Yesterday, I was targeting rock-strewn shorelines using a basic purple Roboworm drop-shot rig.   I got both bass
in the same area, and lost another.   It was overcast and drizzling the entire morning, and all my hits were in fairly
shallow water of about 6ft.    Normally, I'm told the target areas for winter fishing in Del Valle is around 15-30ft.

I was going to work the area for a while, but wanted to map out more of  the lake to identify more fishing spots for
future trips.

Here's a couple of pics from yesterday's trip.  The first one is of Joel with his trout and the second one is an example
of the shoreline we targeted and also gives you an idea of the current lake level.
